Abbot in Sisaket Arrested Following Drug Test
Authorities in Sisaket province apprehended a local abbot after a drug test confirmed the presence of narcotics in his system.
On September 8, 2026, police and local administrative officials in Uthumphon Phisai district, Sisaket province, conducted an inspection at a local temple following public complaints. According to Khaosod Online, residents had reported that the 45-year-old abbot, identified as Phra Amphan, was allegedly involved in drug use within his living quarters.
Upon the arrival of authorities, the abbot initially resisted the request for a urine test, claiming that no substances would be found. He further delayed the process by stating he was unable to provide a sample. Once the test was eventually administered, the results returned positive for narcotics. Following the discovery, the abbot reportedly admitted to using methamphetamine and authorities discovered two methamphetamine pills inside his living quarters.
