Authorities Investigate Illegal Dumping of Suspicious Materials in Chonburi

On September 8, 2026, authorities in Phanat Nikhom, Chonburi, conducted a raid in Na Roek sub-district after receiving reports from local residents regarding the illegal burial of suspicious materials. According to Khaosod Online, the district chief, accompanied by local administrative officials and police, discovered a ten-wheel truck actively dumping materials that were subsequently covered with soil.

Preliminary inspections suggest that hundreds of tons of material may have already been buried across several dozen rai of land. Authorities have seized the truck and are coordinating with the Chonburi Provincial Industry Office to conduct laboratory testing to determine if the buried substances constitute hazardous industrial waste.

The landowner claimed to have purchased the material from the Plaeng Yao area for 2,000 baht per truckload, stating they intended to use it for land reclamation and were unaware of its potential industrial nature. The landowner and the vehicle have been taken into custody for further questioning and documentation.
