Stock Exchange of Thailand Aims to Revitalize IPO Market by 2027
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is implementing measures to shorten the IPO listing process to 90 days, aiming for a market recovery by 2027.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is taking active steps to stimulate the local Initial Public Offering (IPO) market. To increase efficiency, the exchange is working to reduce the time required for new companies to begin trading to 90 days.
For residents and investors, this initiative signals a potential shift in the local financial landscape. While the SET expects 10 to 15 companies to list in 2026—a decrease from the 18 companies seen in the previous year—the exchange remains optimistic about a market resurgence by 2027. Officials noted that three new stocks have already entered the market since the beginning of the year and confirmed that several major deals are currently under discussion.
Furthermore, the SET is collaborating with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to introduce new criteria focused on the 'New Economy' sector. While these efforts aim to boost market activity, the actual impact on the broader economy and the success of these upcoming large-scale deals remain to be confirmed. Travelers and residents should note that these changes are primarily focused on corporate listing procedures and do not directly alter daily living or tourism services in Thailand.
