Military Personnel Arrested Following High-Speed Chase and Collision with Police in Bangkok
A soldier has been apprehended by Bang Sue police after a high-speed motorcycle chase that resulted in a collision with an officer.
On September 8, 2026, a dramatic incident unfolded in Bangkok’s Bang Sue district involving a motorcyclist and local traffic police. According to reports from Khaosod Online, a traffic officer from the Bang Sue Police Station attempted to stop a high-speed big bike rider who had obscured their license plate and was operating a vehicle with a loud exhaust.
The rider refused to stop, leading to a pursuit through the Chatuchak area and onto Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. During the chase, the motorcyclist lost control, struck a curb, and collided with the pursuing police officer. The rider subsequently fled the scene, leaving behind a pair of sneakers. The officer involved, Police Senior Sergeant Major Phanomrung Jiamtua, was not injured, though his motorcycle sustained damage.
Authorities utilized helmet camera footage and vehicle registration data to identify the suspect, who was confirmed to be a military officer stationed in Bangkok. The Tao Poon Police Station has since successfully apprehended the individual. The officer has filed a formal complaint with the Bang Sue Police Station to initiate legal proceedings.
