Card Shop Reports Massive Fraud Involving One Piece and Pokémon Collectibles
A Thai card retailer has disclosed a loss of nearly 30 million baht after being defrauded by a supplier in a pre-order scheme for One Piece and Pokémon trading cards.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a local shop specializing in collectible trading cards has issued a public statement regarding a significant financial loss. The shop had accepted pre-orders from customers and subsequently transferred 29,117,300 baht to an individual identified as 'Mr. A,' who claimed to be an importer capable of sourcing 860 cartons of the 'OP17' One Piece card set.
When the scheduled delivery date of September 3 passed without the arrival of the goods, Mr. A reportedly instructed the shop to wait for a shipment from another individual, 'Mr. N.' However, upon direct inquiry, Mr. N denied ever receiving an order for the specified quantity of cards from Mr. A. On September 7, the shop publicly addressed the situation to inform affected customers, emphasizing that they are actively addressing the issue.
