Chiang Rai Launches Province-Wide Safe Food Initiative
Chiang Rai has introduced a new model to integrate safe food systems across all 18 districts, connecting farmers, local authorities, and consumers to promote community well-being.
On September 8, 2026, local authorities and academic partners in Chiang Rai officially launched the 'Chiang Rai Safe Food City' initiative. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the project is a collaborative effort involving Forward C Co., Ltd., Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, the Chiang Rai Municipality, and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth).
The initiative aims to establish a sustainable food supply chain that links upstream producers—the local farmers—with mid-stream distributors and end-consumers. By creating a unified network, the province intends to ensure that safe, healthy food is accessible throughout all 18 districts of Chiang Rai. Provincial Governor Chuchip Pongchai emphasized that the program is designed to foster balanced well-being for residents by strengthening the connection between agricultural production and community health.
