Lottery Vendor Files Police Report After Overpaying Customers in Loei
A lottery vendor in Wang Sapung, Loei, has sought police assistance to recover over 50,000 baht mistakenly given to a couple as change.
On September 7, 2026, a lottery vendor named Wirat Thummalee, 55, filed a formal complaint with the Wang Sapung Police Station in Loei province. According to the report, the incident occurred earlier that afternoon at the Wang Sapung market when a couple purchased two boxes of lottery tickets—totaling 600 tickets—for 49,920 baht.
Mr. Wirat stated that the female customer handed him 50,000 baht. Amidst a busy period with multiple customers, he mistakenly provided the couple with over 50,000 baht in change instead of the correct amount. Upon realizing the error, the vendor attempted to locate the customers, who had already departed the scene. He is now requesting that local authorities identify and contact the couple to facilitate the return of the funds.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the importance of remaining vigilant during cash transactions in crowded market environments. While such occurrences are rare, they underscore the potential for human error in high-volume retail settings. As of now, the identity of the couple remains unknown, and the police investigation is ongoing.
