Man Arrested in Phayao for Fatal Assault on Uncle
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Phayao province for allegedly killing his uncle following a dispute over money and work performance.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, police in Pong District, Phayao, arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Prasanmit, on September 7, 2026. The suspect is accused of murdering his 47-year-old uncle on September 3.
Prasanmit confessed to investigators that he struck his uncle in the head with a hammer while the victim was sitting in a hammock under their home. The suspect claimed the attack was motivated by a heated argument regarding money and criticism of his work performance. Following the incident, the suspect reportedly loaded the body into a pickup truck to dispose of it. However, after the vehicle stalled on an incline near a local health center, he abandoned the body in roadside brush and returned home on foot. The victim's body was discovered by local residents on the afternoon of September 6.
Authorities have collected forensic evidence, including bloodstains from the truck and the hammer used in the assault. The suspect has been charged with murder and the concealment, removal, or destruction of a corpse to hide the cause of death.
For residents and travelers, this incident is an isolated criminal matter involving family members. While the suspect is in custody, the investigation remains ongoing as forensic teams finalize their analysis of the evidence. The suspect has a prior criminal record involving firearms and narcotics.
