Thailand Meteorological Department Issues Heavy Rain Warning for September 8–13
A six-day period of heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across Thailand starting September 8, 2026, due to a monsoon trough and seasonal winds.
According to an announcement from the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) on September 7, 2026, Thailand is bracing for a significant increase in rainfall from September 8 to 13. The TMD’s second warning (192/2569) indicates that the country will experience widespread heavy rain, with some areas facing very heavy downpours.
From September 8 to 11, a monsoon trough will pass through the upper central, northern, and northeastern regions. Simultaneously, moderate southwest monsoon winds will cover the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The northeastern region is expected to be the first to experience these conditions, followed by other parts of the country. From September 12 to 13, a high-pressure system from China is forecast to move into the upper north and northeast, shifting the monsoon trough toward the lower central and eastern regions.
