Road Subsidence Reported Near Thailand's Parliament Building
A 20-centimeter road collapse on Samsen Road near the Parliament building is currently being repaired by Metropolitan Waterworks Authority contractors.
On September 7, 2026, authorities in the Dusit district of Bangkok responded to a road subsidence incident on Samsen Road, directly in front of the Parliament building. The road surface collapsed by approximately 20 centimeters, prompting an immediate site inspection by the Dusit District Director, Waranya Leelaburanapong, alongside civil engineering and traffic police officials from the Bang Pho station.
Preliminary investigations by local officials identified the cause as being linked to an ongoing Metropolitan Waterworks Authority (MWA) project. The site is located along a route where new water pipes, measuring 1.20 meters in diameter, are being installed to replace older, smaller infrastructure.
For residents and commuters, this incident may cause localized traffic delays as repair crews work to restore the road surface. The contractor for the MWA has arrived on-site and is currently conducting repairs to ensure public safety and restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
