According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampiches stated that the recent five-day visit by 4,800 US Navy personnel from the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group provided a significant economic boost to the city. The personnel, who were in Pattaya from September 2 to September 6, 2026, reportedly generated an estimated 100 million baht in local spending.

Mayor Poramase highlighted that the visit helped shift the city's image beyond its reputation for nightlife. Observations indicated that the sailors visited diverse attractions, including the Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, and the Four Regions Floating Market, while also participating in activities like elephant riding and souvenir shopping. Discussions with local business operators and US Embassy officials suggested that individual personnel spent an average of 100 to 150 USD per day.
