On September 7, 2026, during the second and third readings of the 2027 fiscal budget bill in the House of Representatives, Watanya Bunnag, a member of the extraordinary committee, raised concerns regarding a proposed 500 million baht budget increase for the Village Fund. The committee’s majority had proposed this allocation to support clean energy initiatives, specifically solar cell installations.
Bunnag argued that while clean energy is a valid goal, the new funding may be redundant and inefficient. She highlighted that significant portions of the previous SML project funds from 2025–2026 have yet to reach the intended recipients. She urged the House to scrutinize the proposal, questioning the necessity of injecting new capital into a system that is still struggling to distribute existing resources effectively.
