Authorities have intervened to assist a 19-year-old student targeted by a fraudulent scheme involving fake overseas scholarships.
According to a report by Matichon Online, the Anti-Cyber Crime Operation Center (ACSC) recently intervened to rescue a 19-year-old female student who had fallen victim to a sophisticated call center scam. The perpetrators reportedly lured the student with the promise of a fake overseas scholarship, eventually coercing her into transferring 800,000 baht. Following the initial theft, the scammers escalated their demands, threatening the victim to extort an additional 1 million baht from her parents.
