Highway 1237 Reopened Following Flash Flood Debris
Authorities have cleared a section of Highway 1237 in Phitsanulok after flash floods deposited mud and trees across the road.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 7, 2026, flash flooding in the Bo Phak sub-district of Chat Trakan, Phitsanulok, caused mud and debris to block Highway 1237 between Ban Rak Chat and Ban Thoet Chat (Noen Sawan). The obstruction initially rendered the road impassable for all vehicles.
Local authorities, including Border Patrol Police, military personnel, and the Chat Trakan Highway District, mobilized to clear the route. As of the latest update, one lane has been reopened, allowing large vehicles to pass. However, heavy machinery remains on-site to remove the remaining volume of mud and fallen trees to restore full traffic flow.
For travelers and residents in the area, this incident highlights the ongoing risk of landslides and flash floods in the region. While the road is partially accessible, officials have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution and follow the guidance of personnel working in the area. The District Chief of Chat Trakan has ordered relevant agencies to monitor high-risk zones for potential recurring incidents. It remains to be confirmed when the road will be fully cleared and returned to normal operation, as cleanup efforts are ongoing.
