Thai Prime Minister Confirms Deportation Policy for Foreigners
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has reaffirmed the government's commitment to deporting foreign nationals who engage in misconduct, following the recent expulsion of a French citizen.
On September 7, 2026, Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed the media at the Parliament regarding the enforcement of new Ministry of Interior regulations concerning foreign residents. Following the recent deportation of a French national—the second such case under these new rules after an Israeli citizen—the Prime Minister emphasized that the government intends to utilize existing laws to remove individuals who exhibit poor conduct.
Regarding the appeals process, the Prime Minister clarified that any individual facing deportation must submit an appeal directly to his office, as he serves as the Minister of Interior responsible for signing such orders. He noted that he has not yet received an appeal from the previously deported Israeli national. When asked about the potential for further deportations, the Prime Minister stated that Thailand does not wish to host those who behave inappropriately.
