Thailand Launches Five-Year Initiative for Low-Carbon Agriculture

According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with seven government agencies to promote energy conservation and renewable energy within the agricultural sector. The participating organizations include six departments under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives—covering agricultural economics, livestock, fisheries, rice, and agricultural extension—alongside the Department of Climate Change and Environment.

This initiative aims to transition Thailand toward 'Low Carbon Agriculture' by embedding energy-efficient technologies directly into production processes. The collaboration focuses on analyzing energy consumption, selecting site-specific technologies, and implementing renewable energy solutions to reduce operational costs and improve overall productivity. By integrating these practices, the government intends to lower greenhouse gas emissions across the farming industry.
