Police Conduct Multi-Province Raids to Seize Illegal Firearms
Thai authorities have launched operations across three provinces to intercept the distribution of homemade firearms and ammunition.
On September 6, 2026, police units under the Provincial Police Region 6 conducted coordinated raids across three provinces in Thailand. According to Khaosod Online, the operation was initiated to intercept the supply of homemade firearms, parts, and various types of ammunition before they could reach criminal elements potentially involved in violent activities.
The operation, directed by Commissioner Lt. Gen. Kitisak Durongwiboon, involved search warrants executed at multiple target locations. In the first location in Si Samrong District, Sukhothai Province, authorities executed a court-issued search warrant but reported that the target individual was not present and no illegal items were discovered on the premises. Further search operations were conducted at a dormitory in Phra Sing Subdistrict, Chiang Mai, as part of an investigation expanded from previous arrests related to illegal weapon manufacturing.
For residents and travelers, these operations highlight ongoing efforts by Thai law enforcement to curb the circulation of illicit weapons. While the police are actively working to prevent these items from entering the black market, the full extent of the network remains under investigation.
