Illegal Excavation Discovered in Hat Khanom-Mu Ko Thale Tai National Park
Authorities have uncovered unauthorized dredging and land clearing activities encroaching on protected forest areas at Ko Wang Nok.
According to a report by Matichon Online, officials from the Hat Khanom-Mu Ko Thale Tai National Park have discovered evidence of illegal excavation activities on Ko Wang Nok. The investigation revealed that an excavator was used to dredge the seabed and clear land, creating a channel intended to facilitate boat access.
This unauthorized activity has reportedly impacted over 17 rai of protected forest land. For residents and visitors, this incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the preservation of Thailand’s coastal ecosystems and the integrity of its national parks. The encroachment into protected areas can lead to environmental degradation, potentially affecting the natural beauty and biodiversity that draw tourists to the region.
