Tragic Drowning of 7-Year-Old Girl in Nonthaburi
A 7-year-old girl has died after falling into a pond in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi, following a search initiated by her grandmother.
On the evening of September 5, 2026, a 7-year-old girl tragically drowned in a pond located at a private residence in Bang Rak Phatthana, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the incident was reported to the Bang Bua Thong Police Station at approximately 8:00 PM.
The search began after the child’s grandmother reported her missing. Neighbors and family members initially searched the area, eventually discovering one of the girl's sandals floating in a large pond on the property, which measures approximately 24 by 50 meters and is about 3 meters deep. Upon reviewing security camera footage, it was confirmed that the child had accidentally fallen into the water.
Rescue divers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene and recovered the girl's body after a 20-minute search. The child, who reportedly lived in difficult financial circumstances with her grandmother, was taken to a local temple for funeral rites.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the potential dangers posed by unfenced or deep water bodies in residential areas. While the cause of the fall has been identified via surveillance footage, authorities have not released further details regarding the specific circumstances of how the child accessed the private property. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
