Thai Prime Minister Celebrates 60th Anniversary of Nine Chinese Associations

On September 6, 2026, Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the 60th-anniversary celebration of the nine major Chinese associations in Thailand. The event took place at the Teochew Association of Thailand in Bangkok’s Sathon district.

According to Thai Post, the Prime Minister was welcomed by lion dance performances and representatives from the nine organizations, which include the Teochew, Hakka, Kwang Siu, Hainan, Fujian, Jiangzhe (Shanghai), Taiwan, Yunnan, and Guangxi associations. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister signed the guestbook and highlighted the historical significance of these groups, noting that they have served as vital bridges for economic and social cooperation between Thailand and China for six decades. He encouraged the younger generation to continue strengthening these bonds.

Wu Zhiwu, the Minister-Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, also attended the event, describing the relationship between the two countries as being like family.
