Japanese Teen Arrested Following Infant's Death in Hiroshima
An 18-year-old man in Fukuyama, Japan, has been taken into custody after his two-month-old son died from suffocation.
According to reports from Khaosod Online, citing Kyodo News and The Straits Times, an 18-year-old man was arrested in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, on suspicion of murdering his two-month-old son. Authorities state that the incident occurred between 5:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on September 4, 2026.
The suspect allegedly placed a plastic bag over the infant's head and positioned the child face down to stop him from crying. The infant subsequently died from respiratory failure. The child's mother contacted emergency services that afternoon after discovering the infant had passed away. During questioning, the suspect reportedly claimed he did not intend to kill the child, stating he believed the action would silence the baby's crying.
