Drunk Driving Incident Results in 10 Injuries in Songkhla
A collision involving a sedan and a passenger van near Songkhla Rajabhat University has left 10 people injured, with the sedan driver testing significantly over the legal alcohol limit.
On September 5, 2026, a serious traffic accident occurred on the Songkhla-Na Thawi Road, located behind Songkhla Rajabhat University in the Khao Rup Chang sub-district. According to reports from Khaosod Online, a black Honda City sedan attempted to overtake a passenger van on the left side, resulting in a high-impact collision that caused the van to overturn onto the road median.
Emergency responders from the Sawang Songkhla Foundation and Khao Rup Chang rescue teams arrived at the scene to find the van severely damaged. Ten individuals, including children, were trapped inside and required extraction through broken windows. All victims were transported to Songkhla Koh Yor Hospital for medical evaluation, primarily for head and facial injuries. The sedan was found crashed into a utility pole on the median.
Police from the Mueang Songkhla Station detained the sedan driver, who sustained minor injuries. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 146 mg/dL, significantly exceeding the legal limit. The driver has been taken into custody for questioning and faces charges related to driving under the influence.
