Authorities Raid Chinese-Owned Warehouse in Samut Prakan Over Uncertified Electronics
Thai officials seized over 7,400 uncertified electrical items worth 2.5 million baht from a Chinese-operated fulfillment center in Samut Prakan.
On September 5, 2026, the 'Top Gun' special task force, operating under the Ministry of Industry, conducted a raid on a Chinese-owned warehouse located in the Phraeksa sub-district of Samut Prakan. According to Khaosod Online, the operation was launched following public complaints regarding substandard fans purchased through popular online platforms.
During the inspection of the fulfillment center, which handles order processing, storage, and distribution, officials discovered approximately 7,400 electrical items, including fans and batteries, that lacked the mandatory Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) certification. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at 2.5 million baht. General Nakrob Boonbuathong, chairman of the committee overseeing the enforcement of industrial product standards, stated that the raid aligns with the Ministry of Industry’s policy to curb the distribution of non-compliant products.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the ongoing risks associated with purchasing uncertified electrical appliances from online marketplaces. While these items may appear affordable, they lack verified safety standards, potentially posing fire or electrical hazards. It remains to be confirmed whether the warehouse operators will face specific criminal charges or if further inspections will be conducted at other fulfillment centers across the country to address the broader issue of illicit online retail.
