CPAXT Expands into Malaysian Premium Market with The Food Purveyor Acquisition

Thai retail giant CPAXT has finalized a 13.1 billion baht deal to acquire The Food Purveyor, aiming to strengthen its presence in Malaysia.

According to Prachachat Business, CPAXT has successfully completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares in The Food Purveyor, a premium retail operator in Malaysia. The deal is valued at approximately 1.6 billion ringgit, or roughly 13.1 billion Thai baht.

This strategic move is designed to bolster the operations of Lotus’s Malaysia, integrating a network of over 120 retail branches into the company’s existing portfolio. By acquiring The Food Purveyor, CPAXT aims to capture a larger share of the premium grocery market in the region.

For residents and frequent travelers in Malaysia, this acquisition may lead to changes in product availability and store branding as the integration process unfolds. Analysts have expressed a neutral outlook on the immediate financial impact, noting that the acquisition is expected to contribute significantly to the company’s profits starting in 2026.

While the deal has been finalized, several details regarding the operational transition remain to be confirmed. Specifically, customers should watch for future announcements regarding potential rebranding of existing stores or shifts in the product lineups offered at these locations. As of now, the company has not provided a detailed timeline for the full integration of these new assets into the Lotus’s Malaysia ecosystem.
