Korat Milk Tea Shop Closes After Employee Embezzlement
A milk tea shop owner in Nakhon Ratchasima has been forced to close her business after discovering that a trusted employee had been stealing from the shop for over a year.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a milk tea shop owner in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima, identified as Ms. Sukanda, has filed a police complaint after discovering long-term financial misconduct by a staff member. The owner decided to close her business after realizing that persistent losses were caused by internal theft rather than poor market performance.
Ms. Sukanda became suspicious when sales figures dropped despite consistent inventory usage. Upon reviewing security footage and financial records on August 29, 2026, she discovered that the employee had been pocketing cash from customers instead of recording the transactions in the shop's system. In some instances, the employee’s partner was also allegedly involved. The owner estimates the total financial damage to be nearly 100,000 baht.
For residents and visitors, this incident highlights the vulnerability of small businesses to internal fraud. While this is an isolated case, it serves as a reminder of the challenges local entrepreneurs face in maintaining operational integrity.
