Ancient Giant Fig Tree Discovered in Chumphon Forest
A massive, centuries-old 'Phaya Chumphon Fig' tree has been discovered in a remote forest area in the Tha Sae district of Chumphon province.
A team of officials, including forest rangers and military personnel, recently discovered an exceptionally large and ancient 'Phaya Chumphon Fig' tree deep within a protected forest in the Song Phi Nong sub-district of Tha Sae, Chumphon. The discovery occurred within the Royal Initiative Plant Conservation Project area.
According to reports from Khaosod Online, the expedition team was led by Athorn Kamlangbai, head of the Prince of Chumphon Wildlife Sanctuary. Upon reaching the site, the team measured the tree’s trunk at 235 centimeters in diameter, with a height exceeding 30 meters. The tree is considered a sacred and auspicious symbol for the province, known for its imposing and majestic presence in the deep forest.
