Department of Internal Trade Partners with Big C to Promote Thai Fruit
The Thai government has launched a new campaign at Big C Ratchadaphisek to increase the accessibility of high-quality local fruits for residents and international tourists.
The Department of Internal Trade (DIT), under the Ministry of Commerce, has announced a strategic partnership with Big C Supercenter to boost the distribution of Thai fruits. As reported by Khaosod Online, this initiative is part of the “Thailand: The Land of Tropical Fruits 2026” concept and the “Thai Helps Thai Plus” campaign, which aims to connect agricultural producers directly with urban consumers.
Chanthapat Panjamanont, Deputy Director-General of the DIT, stated that the project focuses on streamlining the supply chain from farms to modern retail outlets. By utilizing major wholesale hubs like Talad Thai and Si Mum Muang, the department intends to ensure that high-quality produce reaches a wider market. The Big C Ratchadaphisek branch was selected as a key location due to its high volume of diverse shoppers, including local professionals, families, and international visitors.
For travelers and residents, this initiative provides an opportunity to sample and purchase premium seasonal fruits in a convenient, modern retail environment. The campaign is designed to promote the quality of Thai produce to a global audience. While the DIT has outlined the logistics of this distribution model, it remains to be seen how long these specific promotional activities will continue at this location and whether similar campaigns will be expanded to other high-traffic tourist areas across the country.
