NXPO Proposes Research Reform to Bridge Thailand’s Inequality Gap

According to a report by Khaosod Online, the National Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO) recently hosted its fourth policy dialogue, titled 'Closing the Gap: Pathways to Inclusive Growth.' The event focused on reforming Thailand’s research and innovation framework to address systemic inequality.

Dr. Suchat Udomsopakit, Assistant Director of NXPO, noted that while Thailand continues to invest in research, the benefits remain concentrated in specific industries and regions. To move beyond simple economic growth, the council proposes decentralizing the research agenda-setting process. This approach aims to include marginalized communities and remote populations, ensuring that technological and social innovations are accessible to all citizens rather than a select few.

For residents and those interested in Thailand’s development, this initiative signals a potential shift in how government resources are allocated.
