Former Election Commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn Files Counter-Lawsuit Over Donation Allegations

On September 4, 2026, former Election Commissioner Somchai Srisutthiyakorn announced plans to file a civil lawsuit seeking 50 million baht in damages from Nattawut Wongniam. According to Khaosod Online, Somchai visited the Thong Lo Police Station to file a formal complaint against Wongniam for allegedly filing a false report intended to cause criminal prosecution and for severe public defamation. Somchai and his legal counsel, Noraseth Nanongtoom, categorically denied the accusations. They presented bank certification documents from Bangkok Bank, Thammasat Rangsit branch, to demonstrate that the donation fund remains untouched. Counsel noted that the fund requires multiple signatories for any withdrawal and that no money has been withdrawn since its inception.
