Solar Water Pump System Sabotaged in Yala
Authorities are investigating an explosion and arson attack on a solar-powered water system in Yala province that has disrupted local water access.
On September 4, 2026, security forces and EOD teams in Yala province inspected a solar-powered water pumping station in Tambon Lidon, Mueang Yala district, following reports of an explosion late the previous night. Local residents reported hearing loud noises between 11:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. on September 3.
Preliminary investigations revealed that 10 solar panels were damaged, and the system's control cabinet had been intentionally set on fire. Forensic teams recovered several items from the scene, including tire fragments, flashlight batteries, and a red container, alongside tire and shoe tracks. These items are currently undergoing forensic analysis to identify those responsible.
The facility, managed by the Lidon Subdistrict Administrative Organization and funded by the Ministry of Energy, provides essential water for local consumption. The damage has directly impacted the community's water supply, necessitating repairs and restoration efforts.
For residents and visitors in the area, this incident highlights a disruption in local infrastructure.
