Udon Thani Airport Set to Become Aviation Hub for Upper Isan

According to a report by Matichon Online, the Thai Ministry of Transport is actively developing Udon Thani Airport to function as the primary aviation hub for the Upper Isan region. This strategic initiative is designed to enhance regional connectivity and accommodate the anticipated influx of visitors for the 2026 World Horticultural Expo (Korat Expo 2026).

As part of this expansion, officials are preparing for the launch of direct flight services connecting Udon Thani to Kunming, China. Phatthaphong, a representative involved in the project, confirmed that the airport is ready to receive the inaugural flight for this new route.
