Thailand’s Ministry of Energy Proposes New Electricity Regulations for Data Centers

According to a report by Prachachat Business on September 4, 2026, Thailand’s Minister of Energy, Ekniti Promphan, announced that the ministry is establishing new criteria for electricity distribution specifically tailored to the data center industry. The initiative introduces four distinct criteria, categorized into minimum requirements and policy-driven standards.

This regulatory shift is designed to manage the high energy demands of data centers while ensuring that these industrial requirements do not negatively affect electricity rates for the general public. Furthermore, the policy is intended to align with Thailand’s national Net Zero emissions targets.
