Suspect Detained Following Fatal Stabbing on Koh Tao
A 40-year-old man has been remanded in custody after allegedly killing his business partner at a Koh Tao restaurant.
On September 4, 2026, police in Koh Tao transferred a 40-year-old suspect, identified as Mr. Jirasak, to the Koh Samui Provincial Court. According to Khaosod Online, the suspect is accused of fatally stabbing his 63-year-old business partner, Mr. Sorachai, at a curry shop located between the Boonsri and Lomprayah piers on Koh Tao, Surat Thani province.
Authorities have formally opposed bail for the suspect, citing the nature and circumstances of the crime. Police Colonel Sarayut Burivachira, Superintendent of the Koh Tao Police Station, stated that the suspect cited a business dispute regarding their tattoo shop as the motive for the attack. However, investigators have noted that they do not fully accept the suspect's initial testimony and are continuing to gather evidence to verify the exact circumstances and underlying causes of the incident.
