Bangkok Governor Proposes Stricter Zoning and EIA Rules for Data Centers

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has proposed a review of current urban planning and building control regulations to better manage the rise of data center facilities in the capital. Speaking ahead of a meeting with the Data Center Business Policy Committee, Governor Chadchart emphasized the need to modernize legal frameworks to address the unique infrastructure requirements of these facilities.

The proposal suggests that data centers should be constructed as standalone buildings rather than integrated into mixed-use developments. Furthermore, the Governor is pushing for stricter Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) requirements to ensure these high-energy facilities align with urban development standards.
