Woman Arrested for Catfishing Scheme Targeting Businessmen
Thai authorities have apprehended a 43-year-old woman accused of using fake photos to defraud a businessman of over 7 million baht.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, police have arrested a 43-year-old woman, identified as Patcharee, on charges related to fraud and the illicit use of digital imagery. The arrest took place near kilometer marker 18 on Highway 366 following warrants issued by the Bangkok South Criminal Court and the Criminal Court in August 2026.
Authorities allege that the suspect utilized photos of an attractive woman to establish a romantic connection with a businessman. Under the guise of having complications regarding an inheritance, she reportedly deceived the victim into transferring funds, resulting in a total loss exceeding 7 million baht. The charges against her include fraud by impersonation and the unauthorized digital manipulation of images for computer system entry.
