Thailand Reports 20.8 Million Foreign Visitors in First Eight Months of 2026
Thailand recorded 20.81 million international arrivals through late August 2026, generating over THB 1 trillion in revenue despite a slight year-on-year decline.
According to data released by Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Phancharoenworakul, as reported by Khaosod English, Thailand hosted 20.81 million international tourists between January 1 and August 29, 2026. This figure represents a 2.97% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. Despite the dip in visitor numbers, the tourism sector successfully generated THB 1.007 trillion in revenue during these eight months.
China continues to be the primary source market for Thai tourism, contributing 3.52 million visitors, followed by Malaysia with 2.63 million arrivals.
For travelers and residents, these figures highlight the ongoing resilience of Thailand’s tourism economy, which remains a cornerstone of the national financial landscape.
