Thailand Issues Flood and Landslide Alert for 54 Provinces
Authorities have issued a warning for flash floods, forest runoff, and landslides across 54 provinces from September 4–7, 2026.
On September 3, 2026, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) issued a nationwide alert covering 54 provinces across the Northern, Northeastern, and Central regions, including Bangkok. According to Director-General Teerapat Kachamat, the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command is monitoring weather conditions following a warning from the Thai Meteorological Department regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall expected between September 4 and 7.
The weather pattern is driven by a monsoon trough passing through the upper North and Northeast, combined with a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. These conditions increase the risk of flash floods, forest runoff, mudslides, and localized waterlogging in affected areas.
For residents and travelers, this alert signifies a period of heightened environmental risk. Those in low-lying areas or near mountainous terrain should exercise extreme caution and monitor local news for updates. While the DDPM has identified the regions at risk, the specific intensity of rainfall in individual districts remains subject to change.
