Allianz Ayudhya Reports Growth in Unit-Linked Insurance Amid Low Interest Rates
Allianz Ayudhya Life Insurance sees significant growth in its unit-linked products as Thai consumers seek long-term financial planning.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Allianz Ayudhya Life Insurance has experienced a 56% growth in first-year premiums for unit-linked products through its agent channel during the first seven months of 2026, reaching 233 million baht. This performance has secured the company the second position in the unit-linked market via agents.
Wirong Phatthanakamchon, Executive Vice President of Agency Management, noted that unit-linked products now account for 14% of the company's new sales through agents, a notable increase from the 3-5% range seen in previous years. The company attributes this trend to the current low-interest-rate environment and a growing consumer interest in long-term financial planning.
For residents and expatriates in Thailand, this shift highlights a broader trend in the local financial sector. The company pointed out that the average life insurance coverage for Thai individuals remains relatively low at approximately 200,000 baht, suggesting significant room for market expansion. While the company has set growth targets for the remainder of 2026, the long-term impact of these financial products on individual wealth management remains to be confirmed as market conditions evolve. This report serves as an observation of current insurance market dynamics and does not constitute financial advice.
