On September 3, 2026, Thai Defense Minister Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen addressed the Ministry of Defense during the launch of a cyber-resilience and AI capacity-building program. According to Khaosod Online, the Minister expressed concern that public AI models, such as ChatGPT, can currently retrieve detailed information regarding Thailand’s military capabilities, including specific inventories of tanks and weaponry. He warned that such technology could potentially be misused for facial recognition, tracking high-ranking officials, or coordinating drone-based attacks. Consequently, he emphasized the urgent need for military personnel to develop advanced technological literacy to counter cyber-attacks and misinformation campaigns.
