On September 2, 2026, the Thailand National Sports University (TNSU) officially inaugurated the 'TNSU Cultural Influence Thai Fighting Food & Festival' at the Chalerm Phatthara Rachini Park in Suphan Buri province. According to Khaosod Online, the event aims to promote and support traditional Thai sports, specifically Muay Thai and Krabi-Krabong, as a means to increase economic value.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Suphan Buri Governor Nattaphat Sanguanchit, alongside TNSU President Assistant Professor Dr. Weerasak Wisalaporn. The event featured cultural performances, including a show titled 'Faith of Siam... Towards Thai Power,' which highlighted the unique identity and artistic heritage of the nation. The festivities attracted a significant turnout of local residents, youth, and tourists.
For travelers and residents, this event offers an opportunity to engage with traditional Thai martial arts and cultural displays in a festive setting. It serves as a platform for showcasing local heritage to a broader audience. While the festival highlights the economic potential of these sports, it remains to be confirmed how long the event will continue and whether similar initiatives will be expanded to other provinces to further promote Thai cultural tourism.
