Department of Corrections Monitors Health of Detainee Phromsorn
Thai prison authorities report that detainee Phromsorn, also known as Fahlikit, is under medical supervision following a hunger and thirst strike.
According to a statement released by the Department of Corrections on September 3, 2026, Phromsorn Veeradhamjaree, a detainee held at Thanyaburi District Prison, is currently under close medical observation. Phromsorn, who is facing charges under Article 112, began refusing food and water on August 31, 2026, as a protest to demand bail rights.
As of September 2, 2026, medical personnel from Thanyaburi Hospital evaluated the detainee and reported that his vital signs remain within normal ranges. However, he is experiencing mild fatigue and symptoms of low blood sugar. In response, medical staff have administered intravenous fluids and assigned prison nurses and health volunteers to monitor his condition continuously. The Department of Corrections stated that they are adhering to international standard operating procedures and humanitarian principles. They further noted that psychologists have conducted an assessment of his mental state.
