According to reports from Khaosod Online Thailand, citing the Korea Herald, a tugboat named TNS Catcher capsized approximately 9 kilometers southeast of Oryukdo Island on September 2, 2026. The vessel, weighing 286 tons, had departed from Busan port at 10:15 a.m. to assist a previously disabled cargo ship.
At the time of the incident, which occurred at 1:29 p.m. local time, there were eight crew members on board, consisting of six South Korean nationals and two Indonesian nationals. Rescue operations are currently underway; however, authorities report that severe sea conditions are significantly hindering the search for the six missing individuals. One crew member has been confirmed deceased, and one was rescued.
