Allegations of Corruption in 2025 District Chief Examination
A Thai opposition MP has received a formal complaint alleging a 3-million-baht bribery scheme linked to the 2025 district chief recruitment process.
On September 2, 2026, Pakamon Noon-anan, a list MP from the People's Party and chair of the House Committee on Political Development, received a formal complaint regarding alleged corruption in the 2025 district chief examination. The complaint was submitted by activist Phatthaphong Suphakson, known as 'Thana-Aun Buriram.'
According to the complaint, there are allegations that candidates were required to pay at least 3 million baht each to secure a position. Phatthaphong claims that the individuals involved in this scheme are allegedly linked to previous irregularities in local government examinations. He has urged the Department of Provincial Administration to address these claims rather than dismissing responsibility and has specifically called for Naruecha to provide information regarding the matter. The complainant also requested an investigation into at least 10 individuals who passed the examination in Buriram province.
For residents and expatriates, this development highlights ongoing concerns regarding administrative transparency and the integrity of civil service recruitment in Thailand. While these allegations suggest potential systemic issues within local governance, the claims remain under investigation.
