Bangkok Governor Halts New Data Center Permits Amid Regulatory Review

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has addressed public controversy regarding the proliferation of data centers within the city. Currently, there are six identified data center projects in Bangkok. Three have already received permits, while the remaining three have been ordered to pause their licensing process. To resolve this, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to meet with the national Data Center Board on September 4 to discuss the implementation of stricter oversight and potential revisions to city planning codes.
