Thai Scientists Discuss Future of AI and Space Economy

At the 2026 National Science and Technology Fair, the Science Society of Thailand hosted a panel titled 'Scientists in the AI and Space Economy Era.' The discussion featured experts exploring how artificial intelligence and space-based technologies are reshaping the scientific landscape.

Dr. Wiphu Rujopakarn, Director of the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), emphasized that Thailand has demonstrated significant self-reliance in high-level innovation. He noted that over 740 Thai professionals have successfully developed satellites and space research equipment domestically, reducing the need for foreign technology imports. These advancements are being applied to practical solutions, such as satellite-based flood rescue operations and remote telemedicine services.

Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Dr. Teerakiat Kerdcharoen from Mahidol University discussed the trajectory of artificial intelligence. He noted that AI is transitioning from simple data processing toward 'Physical & Sensory AI,' which mimics human sensory capabilities.

For residents and travelers, these developments signal a shift toward a more technologically integrated infrastructure in Thailand, particularly in disaster management and healthcare accessibility. While the panel highlighted current successes, the long-term integration of these advanced AI systems into daily public services remains a subject of ongoing development and future implementation.
