DSI Officials Face Disciplinary Probe Over Corruption Allegations
Two Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officers are under investigation for alleged links to a local government bribery scandal.
On September 2, 2026, Thailand’s Minister of Justice, Pol. Lt. Gen. Rutthapol Naowarat, confirmed that the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has initiated a serious disciplinary probe into two of its officers. The investigation follows allegations from the House Committee on Corruption Prevention and Suppression regarding the officers' potential involvement with Mr. Prawit Jaruratchakul, a former local administrative official known as 'Nayok Heng.'
Mr. Prawit is currently a suspect under a warrant issued by the Region 3 Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases. He is accused of soliciting bribes to facilitate the recruitment process for local government positions. While the Royal Thai Police are handling the primary criminal proceedings, the DSI has established a committee to examine the conduct of the two implicated staff members.
