According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) arrived in Thailand on September 2, 2026. The vessel is scheduled to remain at Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi province until September 6, 2026.
This visit involves approximately 5,000 personnel who are seeking rest, recuperation, and logistical support following a deployment at sea lasting over 200 days. Officials have clarified that this stop is strictly for crew rest and replenishment and does not involve any joint military exercises or operations with the Thai armed forces.
For residents and travelers in the Chonburi area, particularly in Pattaya, Bang Lamung, and Si Racha, the influx of personnel is expected to increase activity within the local hospitality, dining, and transportation sectors. Local authorities in Chonburi have implemented security and facilitation measures to manage the visit.
