The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has released its first official warning (No. 181/2569) regarding severe weather conditions expected across upper Thailand from September 4 to September 7, 2026. According to the report by Khaosod Online, the weather pattern is driven by a monsoon trough passing through the northern and upper northeastern regions, combined with a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Residents and travelers in these areas are advised to remain vigilant against the risks of heavy to very heavy rainfall, which may lead to flash floods and forest runoff. The TMD specifically highlights potential dangers for those located near hillsides, waterways, and low-lying areas prone to recurring flooding. Authorities recommend avoiding travel through routes known for frequent inundation during this period.

Additionally, the department is monitoring the progress of tropical storm 'Sodel,' currently located in the upper South China Sea.
