Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Phuket Linked to Open Drainage Cover
A vocational student has died following a motorcycle accident in Phuket caused by an uncovered drainage pit at a construction site.
On September 1, 2026, a fatal traffic accident occurred on Chao Fa West Road in Wichit, Phuket, directly in front of a major shopping mall. According to reports from Khaosod Online, a vocational student identified as Mr. Theepat, who was studying automotive mechanics at Thalang Technical College, lost control of his Honda Wave motorcycle and fell into an open drainage pit.
Local police from Wichit Station, led by Deputy Inspector Wutthichai Chanfai, arrived at the scene following reports of the incident at approximately 10:40 a.m. The victim was initially transported to Dibuk Hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary medical assessments attributed the death to the traffic accident.
Authorities noted that the area was undergoing construction at the time, and the drainage pit lacked any protective covering or warning markers. The motorcycle has been impounded at the Wichit Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation.
