Thai Interior Ministry Completes Removal of Corrupt Local Government Exam Candidates

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Ministry of Interior has concluded its efforts to address widespread irregularities in local government recruitment examinations. Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Liangprasit confirmed that the Central Committee for Local Government Personnel Administration mandated the removal of all candidates associated with exam fraud by August 31, 2026.

Investigations identified 5,925 individuals with irregular test scores. Of this group, 3,868 had already been appointed to positions and have since been removed. The remaining candidates identified in the investigation had not yet been hired, so they were simply excluded from future recruitment processes. Additionally, officials noted that 146 of the 3,868 individuals removed had resigned before their appointments were finalized. Nirat Pongsitthavorn, acting Director-General of the Department of Local Administration, confirmed that the removal process is now considered 100 percent complete.
